Yes, it is, but, I couldn't think of any other double-barrelled named, composer, there is no hyphen, and Vaughan, can also be a Christian name. But fair point.

But do you use 'Album Sort', please? Is it for when you have titles like: 'The Best Of The Bee Gees' or 'The Complete Beatles Collection'; which are to be tagged as: 'Bee Gees, The Best Of' and 'Beatles Collection, The Complete'?

I do, but only to sort albums chronologically.

Yes. Length tag is just storing that info. Can't hurt. I store it, but have never actually used it for anything. You are correct that most players will know that info from the actual track whether you store in tag or not.

Great stuff! I will whack it in as well then. Think I am going re-rip what I have done already, to be honest mate.

Hi mville, Do you think it's OK then for me to just forget about 'Album Name Sort' then, please? I think I am goin' to get a bit wound up an inundated with the whole tagging malarkey as opposed to moving forward and enjoying the ripping process! I think -
for me - 'Album Artist Sort' and 'Artist Sort' are plenty to be goin' on with. Cheers, Paul

If Vaughan Williams had a hyphen, like Mark-Anthony, there would be no confusion!

You must be putting date in the album sort tag? e.g. ALBUMSORT = 1973 - Phases and Stages, ALBUM = Phases and Stages

You can always add them later, if you find you need them.

Various ways, but simple way is right click the file(s) in windows explorer and choose "dbpoweramp -Edit ID Tags". Then do all the album or track level tag editing you want.

You'd use PerfectTUNES, for checking for inconsistencies, improved artwork and if a CD did not give an AccurateRip, amongst other things.

I've re-ripped tracks from CDs with multi-frame errors, on a different CD drive, after the results from PerfectTUNES.

Just saying that you can add tags later, if required - it's not a big job, so rip away!

Tinkering with tags is practically my part time job. I'm always noticing tiny inconsistencies or changing my genre categories. I changed probably 400 file tags today when I added some new cd rips to my library and noticed some inconsistencies in older rips. Fortunately I was doing this in a batch way with only a few mouse clicks. All while sitting on my deck, listening to music, facing the ocean, with a breeze, drinking an ice cold craft beer. (What I'm doing right now while typing this on my ipad).
