    Re: .asx to .mp3?

I am trying to record my song, and I understand everything you said. Except when I try to record, I can't select Stereo Mix because I don't have it. I only have TV Tuner, CD Player, Line-In, and Microphone. I tried TV Tuner, but I still got no sound. Please help, thanks.

You have to update your list of inputs to include all the available sources.

Look in Volume control (bullhorn in task bar), properties > recordign> and check all available optins. After you click ok, you'll be shown an expanded screen with all those controls and you will find either Stereo Mix or What U hear or somethign similar there. Make sure only that is selected for an input source.

This will play it in WIndows Media Player. Stop it, but don't close the player.

Open dMC Auxiliary Input, select your options (I recommend saving to wav first), and start recording and then play the song in WIndows Media. At the end you stop the recording and you have a saved audio file.

If you saved the audio file to wav, you can then use dMC to convert it to anything you want.

BTW, I did this conversion already myself, so it works
This is definately not working for me, i open up WMA, stop the song, turn on dmc aux input, record, play the song, end record when its done, and convert it to an mp3, the thing is, i dont hear anything at all, i dont think it recorded the song when i played it and i dont know how to fix this

Well, it looks like you never did select the input source in Volume Control (the bullhorn in your task bar) prior to attempting to record. Right click on that > Open Volume Controls > Options > Properties> Recording. Now make sure all the different types volume controls appearing in the window are checked. Click OK and then verify on the new screen that's shown containing all the options for recording input sources that nothing is selected except for Stereo Mix (or What U Hear, depending on sound card). (NB: You can also get to this exact same screen directly from dMC Auxiliary Input > Options > Input Source Select).

Then go back and redo your recording using dMC Auxiliary Input.

Auxiliary input simply means additional input, from another source. This program allows you to record audio while it plays through your sound card.

You have to read all the instructions on how to use dMC Auxiliary Input and follow them all. Pay particular attention to preparing the Volume Controls for recording - you have to specify the input source correctly. For streaming (presumably off the net), you will use Stereo Mix (or What U Hear, depending on your sound card).

Okay, I've followed all the steps, except when opening dMC Auxiliary Input, where do I select my options? And where's the record button? I've got a Rip button, etc but no Record button shown in the Help thumbnail..

                    Help? I'm obviously a real novice :(

I said dMC Auxiliary Input and NOT dMC Audio CD Input :D Download it if you don't have it yet from http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-Aux-Input.exe .

And since we are at it, here are the instructions on how to use it too: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5362 .

And also since it may just come up again, here's how to fix your Volume controls so you can record from the soundcard: post 95 just a little higher up in this same thread ( http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showpost...1&postcount=95 )

Actually, don't worry. I'm just a stupid idiot who can't be bothered reading instructions. Sorry.

i have downloaded the files required for the .dat conversion but it looks like there is something wrong. What is happening is that the output file goes really fast as if it was being forwarded. Accordingly, the total time also reduces from the original time. I ll appreciate all answers...
