    There's something on Strembox CR and a download. Perhaps this will help you.
    thanks you for answering me,

    but i dont want this too get too complicated...
    is there some codec or something i cant download so that my dbpoweramp music converter can be able to convert .asx files?
    this way i can just put all my files in there at once and have mp3 files.

    thanks

        No. If you don't want to use any other stuff outside the dBpowerAMP family, then you must use dMC Auxiliary Input to record the audio that you hear from the player that plays the file, to a wav or directly to a compressed type. That will be done one by one in real time.

          You cannot download a file wose protocol is mms:// because that's from a multi media streaming sever. If that were http:// it would work.

          Use dMC AUxiliary Input for that.

                Why do you want to change .wma to .asx?

                .asx is a meta-file - it simply points to the wma file which is the true audio file. The purpose is pseudo-streaming of the .wma file - on the web.

                If you want to create an .asx file, take a look at http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=4992 .

                  The <REF HREF=.....> will give you the path to access the audio file directly.
                  If it's got http in front, it's possible to download. For others, it depends.
                  What if I cant download the file?

                  <Ref href ="mms://media03.nrk.no/distrikt/ndsf/JUST A TEENAGE BOY.WMA"/>

                  mms=?
                  what do I do?

                        i did everything i was sposed to... but i can't convert .asx files and even when i rename it to .wma, it still says its unable to convert. i even tried open all the .asx files in notepad so i can get the true file and linked it to a site i made so i can "save target as" but it says i can't because it's protected or something. is there anything else i can do?

                          Look up 2 posts and do as Razgo says: record the audio as it is being played through your soundcard by using dMC Auxiliary Input, which you can download from here as well. Follow the instructions at http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5362 .

                          You could however post the link to whatever it is you were traying to capture/convert and let's see what's what.

                            at first, i renamed all my .asx files to .wma, then used the music converter but that didn't seem to work.

                            then i tried opening the .asx files with notepad and to get the real file and even tried linking it on a site so i can "save target as" but it says i can't. does that mean its copy protected?

                            so i've been using the auxiliary input and its working but it sounds really crappy even if i changed the options to what should work best.

                            what can i do to improve the quality?

                            or am i doing anything wrong?

                            or is there any OTHER way to convert .asx to .mp3?

                              Can you be more particular about what sounds "crappy" about your track(s) created with Auxilary Input? Can you tell us about the settings you are using for your soundcard and for Auxilary Input?
                              You might want to check out ChristinaS' FAQ thread on Auxilary Input here:
                              When you can play an audio file in a player on your pc but you cannot convert it to another format, there are 2 possible explanations and solutions for that: 1) You do not have the proper codecs for the file Using the file extension as a guide, go to Codec Central (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm) and download

                              or the ideas in this thread here:
                              Anyone know any good stream rippers? I am trying to convert and-or rip streaming audio from the internet. I am looking for software and-or codecs that is freeware to do this. I am looking for stream rippers.

                              Best wishes,

                                Re: .asx to .mp3?

                                Again I will say it: .asx is not a an audio file format. It is a meta file which gives the address of the actual audio file. That audio file itself may or may not be protected. CVhances are that if you cannot get it downloaded it is actually on a streaming server. You can then only stream it frlom tehre, so you have to capture it. dmC will capture it if you play it through a player.

                                You may not have properly followed the isntruciton os selecting your input source in Volume Controls. Right-click on the Volume icon in the atsk bar (the bullhorn), then Open Volume Controls > Options > Properties > Recording . At this point you have a list of all types of volume controls to show. Check all f them and click OK. A screen will shown with all the different sources of inoput for recording. Make sure everything is unchecked (especially microphone) except for Stereo Mix (sometimes called What U Hear). The volume sldier on Stereo Mix should be about 2/3 of the way up. Close this window. You can go back to dMC Auxiliary Input and srat recording.

                                The audio quality will depend on waht your'e recording to. For best results it should be 16-bit, stereo wav at 44.1KHz. After that you can convert it to whatever other format you like.
