    Feature request: AMD64 support!

In the coming 6 months 64-bit Windows is set to 0wn.. people with dBPowerAmp are generally savvy, literate blokes with an interest in tech - IOW prime candidates for 64-bit migration; it'd be nice to have full 64-bit support for audio encoding in my app of choice, and suspect that many others will wish it too.
No hurry, maybe by next year? Most of the new machines shipping should be 64bit by then, since Intel's finally got x64 and AMD is phasing out even the budget 32-bit procs.

Off-topic: anybody know if there's any real benefit to 64-bit addressing for audio compression? A genuine speed increase? I don't know enough of compression tech to know either way.

One thing about moving dMC to 64-bit is that all the encoders are still 32-bit. So porting dMC and ALL the codecs to 64-bit is beyond Spoon's control. Right now, you can use dMC in Windows XP x64 and the only thing that won't work is the Context Menu's.

Also, there is probably little to no gain for audio encoders under 64-bit. The only thing that would be a benefit is that dMC would be able to handle files bigger than 4GB.

There is absolutely no gain as the encoding is mostly done in MMX/SSE nowadays which already supports 64bit anyway.

I was hoping that native 64-bit code might not need the 32-bit emulation (like WoW for 16-bit code in Win2k/XP) and that might make it faster. Good point about the codecs

One thing is that the limiting factor in encoding files is either the tranfer rate from the CD or from the HDD. Also, your CPU speed and FSB also choke the encoding speed.

It is something that needs to be written, that means new compilers and a major rewrite...

Is there a work-around to get Context Menu working in XP x64?
              Thanks,
