well about an hour later . . . I tried to beef up my knowledge about this issue but none the wiser really.

now I had the fraunhofer codec installed already god knows where from it shows up through control panel > sound devices > bla ba . . .

virtualdub can access this but, yeah, dbpoweramp can't. is there a plan for doing this, or actually what is the difference? Am I being stupid? Not so easy to get that mp3enc.exe I guess . . .

slightly confused, but encoded with the fraunhofer demo and yup its better I am afraid. so please help me make the best out of dbpoweramp. cheers

If you search google for that filename (mp3enc.exe) you should be able to download it.

found it, but not through google, security seems to be rather tight, good ol' ftp had to step in.

shame opticon is not selling this anymore. but oooooh its so slow.

but honestly the difference in quality is amazing I have to say I am a bit frustrated about all the files I produced using lame. there is no comparing it. I know many people won't care but we are trying to use the stuff professionally here and lame doesn't cut it.

found a copy of fastenc too and am considering putting together a CLI following your instructions. cause I don't even know if it's the right one. well I'll run it in command line . . .

but seriously it is a bit risky to rely on lame for all your encoding. guess the other stuff is pricey, though. well well . . .
