I think converting midi will always be a hard issue. because of the nature of midi it will always be difficault to achieve good results.
if anything perhaps the ability to play a midi file (without the conversion bit) would be nice.
a lot of people just run a cable from the output of the soundcard and loop it back into the input and then play and record at the same time into another format. -
ringtones? there are millions of music midi files out there.

is there a specific ringtone you wanted? i'm sure there would be some in wav format around.Comment

converting from midi would only be easy, u would need to ude the directx built-in dls file(which contains wavs of all the istruments). all that might be hard is the mixing of the wavs into one wav outputComment
