    Sony track indexing

    This is an obscure issue.

On the very first CDs every issued by Sony, they had the ingenious idea that they would only have two tracks, one for side 1 and one for side 2, and a proprietary indexing scheme that could only be read by Sony CD players to detect the additional track breaks. They dropped this scheme very quickly.

The only desirable collector's item I know of that has this feature is the original Sony issue of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. The original "made in Japan" issue in the United States is identical to the Japanese issue, and can be obtained for significantly less money. Given the limited applicability of this issue and the difficulty in addressing it, I understand if the Sony indexing scheme is never addressed.

I'm not sure what your question is.

I have a Sony CD player separate in my hi-fi system which as well as supporting the usual tracks it also recognises indexes. If my memory hasn't failed me I have only seen indexes used on one CD and they were used to sub-divide a track into smaller sections.

The question is - will dbPoweramp ever support indexing?

You aren't listening. I clearly described a well known situation in which indexing is required to get the ordinary track breaks.

Indices should be part of the cuesheet support, shouldn't it?
