Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

    Hey spoon,

I havn't had a chance to test the new alpha but i noticed this

"2 enhancements include a best result from c2 if cannot match 10 frames, also it is recommended that if a drive supports c2 then the maximum re-reads should be set to around 700 (you will see impressive results with this)."

does this still report insecure if it does go for a best result?

    Thanks spoon!

Yes if it cannot verify with AccurateRip, but if the log file is set to complete then you can see when this takes place.

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

        incredible work spoon!

        Two quick questions...
no cue sheets yet? [are you going to follow the standard set by EAC's 'noncompliant'?]

Album Art... Could you allow it to be saved in output folder as a jpg, instead of in the tags of the file?

Cue sheets will appear when we tackle the image rip, havn't really looked into it. What are the pros and cons of non-compliant?

Album art will be as you ask.

Looks really good Spoon. Is it possible to include some the extended AMG data such as review, styles and moods?

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

I found it hard to put those fields into various tag fields (review is not an option for us), we do have Styles, could not see moods.

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

Hey man. This program is looking to be pretty awesome. I've been testing it out for a bit and love it. I just have one problem. I've been encoding files to WavPack files, but cannot get the file extension to work. It always makes the files .ext files, and then I have to change it to .wv. I am using the command line you posted, so I must be doing something stupid. :p Thanks for any help.

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

                  Something interesting:
On my computer, cache and FUA support take a very long amount of time:
                  Cache detection:
Test Time without re-read: 125312ms (or 2 minutes)
Test Time with re-read: 250875ms (or ~4 minutes)

                  FUA Support:
Test Time without FUA: 50109ms (or ~1 minute)
Test Time with FUA: 86594ms (or ~1.5 minutes)

My drive is the Lite-On SOHW-1693S DVD+-RW burner.
On my Laptop, with a QSI SBW-242 (CD-RW, DVD-ROM combo drive), it was very quick.

Significant? I don't think so, but you want to make a note that it may take a few minutes on some machines.

                  System specs:
Windows XP (testing done in x64)
                  AMD Athlon X2 4200+
                  1GB RAM

Edit: Wow, love the new interface and the multi-processor support, at least in Ogg Vorbis. Two thumbs WAYYY up .

                    Spoon,

Thanks for the reply. Why is review not an option? Could this not go into the comments field? This is how I am currently doing using MP3Tag

                      > It always makes the files .ext files,

Have a look at hte help file for the CLI Encoder, there is a file you need to edit (saying that dBpowerAMPs Wavpack encoder will be finished in a few days).

                      @Ltdata

Try a different CD please and see what times that gives.

                      @Paul_B

It was more expensive and did not seem worth it.

                            The summary version is:

Con: Compliant cue sheets can be read by nearly all applications that use cue sheet files. Non-compliant cue sheets generally can only be read properly by the application that created them.

Pro: From what I understand, and I might be wrong: non-compliant cue sheets may be necessary for creation of bit-for-bit duplicates of ripped CD images when stored as multiple WAV files. Refer to the AutoFLAC thread on the HA forums for more info, specifically nitro322's post here (note that this was when his app always wrote out separate tracks, before he added support for a single image file): http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...1&#entry427411

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

I was wondering if the Alpha has the ability to do bulk conversions yet.

I am in need to convert my collection of 1,300 albums from FLAC to .mp3.

I noticed the Alpha supports multi-threading, so I blindly installed it and now I no longer "see" the option to pick directories and do a "mass convert".

Am I missing something or do I have to go back to the production release?

                              -Mike

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

                                From the download thread:
                                File Selector: Not Implemented
So no, it is not supported yet. In fact, there isn't a FLAC codec for dMC r12 yet. You would be better off going back to dMC r11.5.
