thanks spoon. I will post my results with my new plextor 708a on a TON of library (pretty scratched stuff) cd... and do some eac comparisons.

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

I am getting a consistent CD error on ripping particuliar track. I have enabled secure ripping but I can't hear it trying to re-read a bad sector or going to a pass 2 at a lower speed.

The disc rips okay with Media Player 11 to WAV lossless and upon playing seems to sound okay.

                The error is:

Error ripping to CLI Encoder, 'Track 18' to 'S:\music\Morcheeba\Part Of The Process (The Very Best Of)\18-Can't Stand It.flac'
Unable to read CD, check CD disc (frame LBA 352525) [clRipperSecure::Rip]

Anything obvious from the error message?

                  Is it the last track?

does that have something to do with your drive not being able to read lead in lead out?

Only if it was the very last LBA, right click on a column and switch on Start and End LBA addresses, then see if 352525 is right at the end of the cd.

                          hey spoon,

my 708a plextor is up and running and I was just wondering about the cache. I have updated its firmware to the latest version. When i detect cache with a brand new cd it says the cache is 0... I thought this drive cached...?

                          thanks for the help spoon.

                            k got a ? spoon.

I have this cd called innocent man by billey joel. accurate rip says its inaccurate with a confidence of 3 but the tracks are all saying secure. this is with 2 min passes pass on 2 and 16 max with cache on fua on lead in lead out on c2 on, with a plextor 708a...

I thought for sure the error would be caught...?

well i can't get ANY cd's to report c2 with the detection... eac reports it though, anything wrong?

do plextor drives only report the error if its not correctable or something?

ive tried just a ton of very scratched cd's with the detection

                              thanks spoon

Try upating the firmware of the plextor.
