    dBpoweramp for Mac, R17.8 beta

    Current version: R17.8 beta 8

    Download:

    Changes since R17.7:
    • Apple Lossless decoding overflow fix.
    • Fixed pregap detection feature of CD Ripper not working on recent Mac OS versions.

    Changes in beta 2:
    • CD Ripper: Fixed spurious dropdown list entries in metadata table.
    • CD Ripper: Fixed crash on disc change while editing metadata.

    Changes in beta 3:
    • dBpoweramp program can now be used similarly to Windows CoreConverter.exe, with -coreconverter argument.

    Changes in beta 4:
    • CD Ripper: Improved behavior when one of metadata providers is taking too long to respond.
    • CD Ripper: Cancelling a metadata lookup in progress now keeps the info that was returned instead of discarding all.

    Changes in beta 5:
    • Fixed bugs in metadata/cover lookup vs proxy server.
    • Fixed specific AAC audio producing too quiet output.
    • Additional debug logging to identify specific reported bugs.

    Changes in beta 6:
    • CD Ripper: Fixed stuck "looking for disc" status (display glitch only, no behavior changed).
    • CD Ripper: Additional debug logging of optical drive discovery.

    Changes in beta 7:
    • Attempted workaround and additional debug logging for CD Ripper lock up bug.

    Changes in beta 8:
    • More additional debug logging.

    Changes in beta 9:
    • Specifically changed to crash on unresponsive UI to create a crash report. Do not use for anything else than debugging lockups. Hence no link above.

Looks like the URL is missing the trailing '8' in the filename.

Re: dBpoweramp for Mac, R17.8 beta

There's an error ever since using this Beta where my disc drive won't load the CD. This didn't happen with beta 3 or 6 (although I think it was 3 that I had last). It usually says No Audio CD inserted. Everything else that reads discs is able to read it, so this is specific to this release of DBpoweramp.

Sometimes the conversion stops because two or more CPUs stop what they're doing (followed by an error on the next track). Have had to force quit the app so many times.

I also sometimes get an error that says Encoder not found or something to that effect.

Like I said I can't remember if it was 3 or 6 (I downloaded it I think in May of this year, but 3 was from last year?).

Anyway I'm scared that going back to 3 will bring along issues that were not fixed then, as I am ripping library CDs in ALAC (Apple Lossless) and do not have access to most of them if anything goes wrong. I thought I read that AAC files are having issues with volume? As AAC and ALAC are similar, I don't want that to affect the files. I can try.

The AAC issue does not affect ALAC, and it is only when converting from specific AAC files.

The the older version and let us know please if this fixes the CD ripper lookup.

That version you gave me seems to fix all the issues in the newest Beta.

I will say so that sometimes when there's an error ripping the track, there is no option to rip the track insecurely.

Also, if I insert a disc, then later re-insert it, the cache is no longer there (I manually check track titles and artwork).

Otherwise that lower beta is better than the newest one. Just an update since it's been a while.

                  Thanks for the bug report.

I'd like you to follow these steps:

We've been investigating similar bug reports but have been unable to recreate them on our Macs, hopefully new input will let us fix this.

Is dBpoweramp 17.8 going to be released? or are we being forced to purchase R2022-08-09 to fix the bugs?

Development stopped on R17.x back in January of this year as R2022-xx-xx was prepared for the change of licensing. We included a .8 test release to better understand why for some CD Ripper was freezing (it seems it was 3rd party security software in the most part).

                          Thank you for your answer.
Then I will now trigger the order.... dbpoweramp is still supported.... for at least 12 years my software... first on the PC then on the Mac.

                          Greetings

Were you successful in reproducing this issue? If so, did the fix make it into the R17.8 branch?

I have experienced "CD Ripper exists with fatal exception" and "No encoder found" and "No CD drive found" issues using beta 8 and can help provide logs using beta 9, if still needed.

Otherwise, I would like to start using the "fixed" version.

dBpoweramp R17.8 beta 9 (running direct from install package)

CD Ripper silently crashes upon inserting CD and closing drive tray.

I collected the requested Log and Crash Dump files, but having a devil of a time using the Attachment feature of this forum software!?!

Am I posting this in the wrong thread?
