    Sorry, this was incorrect:

A VLCclient-zombie was hammering the AssetUPnP library.
Having killed this client, CPU-load for AssetUPnP-server returned to normal behaviour.
Nevertheless, the memoryleak seems to be an issue, but it's growing way slower now.

      Beta 3 posted.

Auto descending browse tree items now work properly.

Yes, I'm able to get the doc-example working, now. This is a highly appreciated feature for me.

        Some questions:
How would I define a custom browse-tree entry "Classical - albums by composer" presenting a list of composers (with genre "Classical" or "Contemporary classical") that directly leads me to a list of albums after selecting a composer.

        With:
        Code:
        Classical - albums by composers**Dynamic Browsing&+&Genre&+&Classical&+&Genre&+&Contemporary classical&+&Composer&+&[All Composers]
the genre="foo" OR genre="bar" semantic is correctly applied, but I still have to select manually |List Albums|, first.

Is there a way to define a AND-restriction?

Is it possible to define a custom browsetree-entry starting with "Folders & Filename Browsing"?
E.g. presenting only artists located "under" a specific subfolder in the library-tree?

        Thanks,
        umgfoin.

Both Beta 2 & 3 working fine for me.
Loving the ability to upload my own artwork at the Artist level, to override the upstream artwork, when required, i.e. For Artist with large collections, I can either select which album artwork represents them or use Press images or other photos - including my own taken at gigs - what I brilliant way of personalising your personal music collection.

Controlpoint-override-option [StreamMax48KHz] * seems to be without effect.
96KHz ogg-media doesn't get resampled to 48KHz and is delivered with original sample-frequency.

This is a truncated-log recorded while a was playing a 96KHz ogg on foobar2k-mobile-client with the above option enabled.
            foobar2k-mobile console-output logged the stream as 96KHz.

            Code:

Can't work out what is going on as not linux expert. I had R5 working no problems. Have installed the R6 betas. 1 worked consistently, with some known bugs but every time I get multiple instances running on 3 and then go away for work when I come back it seems to stop running Asset. I reboot, it starts then pretty soon after (seconds) Asset unloads itself again with no asset processes running. It seems to run if fired off from the console but every reboot is starts and then stops again.

This maximum frequency setting is only applied if the stream is transcoded, so you would have to set 'ogg as wave', so the format is always transcoded.

                  Update
I found that if I allocate more memory to the main processes and less to the GPU it seems to be more stable. I did look at the process resources and it only looks to be using @ 5% of CPU when actually streaming and less that 1% for the instances not actually actively playing but something seemed to be causing a problem, Don;t know whether anyone else has seen / solved the same thing?

Re: Asset R6 beta [Mac, Linux]

Given I run my 'RaspberryPi for Asset' as a dedicated headless server, I have as much memory allocated to CPU over GPU as possible. I have also stripped out any Desktop or Graphical element from the OS, in fact any library or module not involved/needed to run Asset, iStat, SSH, NFS etc., a 'Asset Optimised Server'.
This means there is very few other processes running when Asset is not serving UPnP files & under a few % when serving, I also transcode FLAC to WAV.
I have 99.9% stability & a rock solid stream to my NDS during playback for all formats upto 24/192 & native DSD64.
Under R6 a rescan of my 75k track library is under 24-hrs & the hourly rescan a few seconds.
What I seeing is now have nearly 400 images in the Custom Upstream folder, restarting Asset takes over 30 seconds, as it revisits the Upstream artwork settings, however this gives me the ability to have custom images at the Artist level in my 'Album Artist' level. So with the customised icon library, I have optimised my UPnP server support.
I just wish the Naim app was better with 3rd party UPnP servers, as all the development work they are doing as present is to support the playback from their latest Uniti Core product. This is basically a Linux server, with Linear Power supply, internal storage from a single HDD, and a CD drive for ripping.
I have no need to spend £1,700 on this solution, which has a single point of failure on the data, i.e, your Music Library.

Well I have a Linear PSU on my RaspberryPi, which is housed in a machined Aluminium case, mounted to a RAID1 array (backed up to another RAID1 array), and a ripping solution through dBPoweramp.

Have tried playing with Roon on a NUC under ROCK, and a UPnP Bridge running on a RaspberryPi like box, and it can't serve 24/192 files, as it can't keep the buffer on the NDS full, so the playback fails. Downconvert to 24/96 and is fine, but the downconversion is being done in the NUC under ROCK.
Plus it just doesn't sound as good as the Asset server, which is most important.

                      Hi,

I'm a Mac user, so thought I would join the testing of Asset R6 on macOS.

Installed beta 4 and the first issue I've noticed is I cannot modify the 'Menu Icons Background Color'. When I click the button in configuration options it opens up a small Window with nothing in it. Looks like an unfinished feature, but thought I would mention in case it is a bug.

                      Regards,

                      Neil.

This still seems to be happening and doesn't happen with the R5 version. If I update the Pi operating system and reboot, asset initially shows the multiple servers and then asset crashes as evidenced by the web page fails to find the server. Reboot and they load temporarily and crash again. If you catch it as it comes up and disable all instances it stays up and if you then enable each in turn and get it to rescan all the servers remain stable.

                          Just a heads-up,

Beta 5 has been posted. All bug reports are being looked into. If you are experiencing stability issues, please update to beta 5, enable debug logging, then keep Asset running for long enough to make the problem manifest itself, then make a configuration dump (which will also include the logs written so far) to peter@dbpoweramp.com for analysis.

Thanks for testing Asset. We appreciate your interest.

Thanks for posting Beta 5 and for looking at the multi-disc options. I've not tried Beta 5 yet but one thing I noticed with 4 was just how many simple configuration changes triggered a complete library re-scan when applied. It made experimenting with the configuration quite exasperating. Can anything be done to separate configuration from re-scanning? Seems very inefficient. Thanks.

                                Using beta 5 for QNAP.

I've noticed that the bespoke png images (hi res naim images) I've copied into the share/MD0DATA/qpkg/Asset/bin/AssetImages folder of my QNAP TS451 are not appearing even after clearing the Naim app image cache. Instead I am seeing the default Asset images even though these have been overwritten. The Hi-Res versions appeared OK in beta 1 but have not worked since beta 4.
