    Re: Asset UPnP R5

    Hi Spoon,

today I had a problem I want to share with you.
I added a couple of new files. However after searching in my file tree GENRE -> CONDUCTER I did not find the file.
Then I forced Asset to reorganize the database by pressing the button "Refresh all".
The result was a nightmare. The result did not show any album.

The number of files was wrong, also.
I shut down the PC and tried it again. In former times with this BETA version I got a better result.
However this time it was impossible to start Asset.

To make a long story short. I had to deinstall Asset from my PC and then I had to install version 4.3 and on top the Beta 5.2.
    Now I am fine again.

From my point of view it is still a bit inconvenient for the user.

P.S. The root cause why Asset did not find my requested conducter was, that I did not put a name in the field.

It is possible some security software was blocking R5 on the restart?

        Re: Asset UPnP R5

        Hi Spoon,

I do not think so. I have not changed my security settings. Not in Windows nor in the tool. I am using Sophos for security issues. Now the system is running smooth. But why does Asset did not count the albums and the tracks correctly?

I will add a couple of new albums today and then I will check if the numbers increased accordingly.
There is another difference between the versions I want to share.
If you press the button "refresh all" in the version 4.3 than Asste always displays "number of tracks out of total".
In version 5.2 Beta Asset only counts the numbers. The total sum of tracks is not sisplayed.

        Best regards
        Markus

The scanner has changed, we will investigate the album count though.

I think is quite a while off, we will most likely add all the features to the windows version first then port over.

                    Re: Asset UPnP R5

I am experiencing a very strange problem first noticed in Beta 2 last week and now continuing in Beta 3...

I loaded an album 'X' to play in Kinsky last week to play, which it did perfectly. I then completely cleared the playlist. Now, after loading any fresh tunes, after every track I play it reverts back to playing tracks from the album 'X' I loaded last week, which are not in the playlist or displayed anywhere apart from the current song.

At first I thought this must be a problem with the control point, so I switched to using Asset Control. Again, the playlist was cleared before starting and had not previous played album 'X', but as with Kinsky, I loaded up a playlist and after each track, tracks from the original album 'X' I loaded last week start to play.

I have restarted Asset and cleared all the playlists, restarted the computer and still the problem persists. This is very frustrating and the common denominator appears to be Asset so have you ideas as to what may be the problem and how to fix it please?

Enable the debug log please (on advanced configuration page), browse to the artist album folder you wish to play, then add the track to the playlist and set the track playing, then view the debug log and post here please.

Okay, I followed your instructions, and when I clicked <OK> in Advanced Settings after enabling the Debug Mode, Asset re-started and then wouldn't start again no matter what I did, it just kept saying 'Not Running'. I then restarted the PC with Asset on and instead of restarting in the usual 'Local Account (recommended)' mode, it has switched to running as a Service - I have now switched back to 'Local Account' mode and the database is rebuilding - it may take some hours, so will let you know what happens afterwards. Something appears very wrong with Asset on this PC :-(

Please ignore image below, I cannot remove it.

I suggest you restart everything - router, then Asset, then your player, then Kinsky.

                          The debug log shows:

Serving File as is: D:\Music\P\Pink Floyd\The Dark Side Of The Moon (Immersion Edition 2011) - Pink Floyd (1973) 3CD\CD1 - The Dark Side Of The Moon (Remastered)\01 - Speak To Me - Pink Floyd.flac

                          As being served to play.

Yes, that's what I decided to do anyway. I edited my post to remove the debug log after realising it probably did not contain what you wanted. I will provide another one if the problem starts again after everything has been restarted.

Hi Spoon - This evening I encountered exactly the same problem as mentioned in post number 84. I went to enable the debug log, but Asset again refused to run when restarted for this setting to come into effect. The only way I can then get around the problem is to completely re-scan the library using 'Refresh all'. Can I leave Asset continually running in debug mode so if the problem recurs I already have a log to send, or will this cause other problems?

Enabling the debug log simply restarts asset, it should not need a rescan because the database is only read from. The debug log could be enabled, however at least once a week restart asset otherwise the log will grow too big.
