PerfectTunes Album Art behavior

So far I have tried PerfectTunes Album Art on a few small test beds. Unfortunately it hasn't been very useful or helpful in those small tests.

I would like to try it on my library of ~8000k discs, but hesitant because I still really don't understand its behavior.

I simply want to find the highest quality album art for my albums and only write it to folder.jpg. Ideally, if folder.jpg already exists it could be renamed to something like folder2.jpg.

However, since it hasn't really done anything in my small tests (good or bad), I am afraid to set it free on the library, especially since there are few setting and little description of what it will do.

Do I have to choose art manually?

Will it only prompt if it finds higher resolution art then I currently have?

If I click go will it just download whatever images it thinks and write them regardless of what I have?

It will only overwrite the existing if the newer is of higher resolution. It is possible later to undo any art changes should you require.

I have been playing with the utils on my windows 7 machine. After the initial analysis, everything worked great. I had a couple of questions/observations, though.

Why does the UI take over the screen in windows 7? I can't display my task bar (hidden) with any of the apps.

When fixing albums, you should be able to filter out non-matching albums from the list. Initial scans and fixes would be shorter with a shorter list to fix. I have about 18,000 songs and about 720 albums to fix.

What are the plans to expand the selection of album art? Looking forward to the next release with metadata correction in it.

If your taskbar in the usual place (at the bottom)? by default it does not take over the taskbar.

I may be missing something, but where is the UNDO feature?

Also, how do I know if any automatic changes where made? I finally finished my library scan of 70000+ tracks. It doesn't look like any automatic changes where made.

Been using PerfectTUNES for a few days now. Over all like it few small issues I’ve run into.

1: When updating “Low Resolution” art to higher resolution. When the ‘art picker’ screen comes up it does not display the current art so it makes it more work to confirm what art I want to update too.

2: Default location for art cache files (.bin files) appears to go to the drive with the most free space. In my case this happens to be a remote network drive and is not ideal. Putting files on the root of any drive is just messy let alone a shared network drive. Settings should allow this location to be configurable.

I don't know what PerfectTunes consider low resolution, but I have plenty of albums with 250x250 and PerfectTunes didn't update any of them... at least as far as I can tell so far.

I recently started a scan of my collection with the AccurateRip function of perfecttunes. I stopped to install the new beta. I can tell you its very frustrating that it seems to have to re-index and "listen" to everything again.

Possible bug in PerfectTUNES AccurateRip:

Checked through my collection and everything was as expected with some genuine AR failures due to pressing of the CD. However, there was one false negative: Randy Newman - The Princess and the Frog (Soundtrack). PerfectTUNES reports 11 tracks accurate with tracks 1,3,7,10,12,16 having errors. I re-ripped the CD in dBpoweramp and everything ripped fine with AR confirmed for all tracks. I ran PerfectTUNES on this new rip and it reported the same errors as the previous rip.

Downloaded it yesterday from the link in the first post (assuming this is updated to the latest version). Let me know if there is any log file or such I can send.

EDIT: Found the logs. Looks like it's reading two or three different Disc IDs. (Note: It's also a fresh, unedited rip)

You have the latest...

That is the issue, this disc must be a CD Extra, or the start position of the tracks is non standard (not starting at 150 sectors in), this information is all used in AccurateRip to generate the Disc ID, so PerfectTunes has to lookup the possible disc ids based on track length, that exact disc id we do not have (we will at some point as they are collected by dbpoweramp).

What is interesting is that there are different versions of this cd, same track lengths, but with different audio for some of the tracks.

I'm having a small problem with PerfectTunes Album Art.
I started the program, it pops up with the register email account, since I have one I enter in my email account, and the password that I received. That's when I get the error "Could not connect". OK, no problem, I will just use lost password recovery.
I receive the same password and the same email address, again "Could not connect". I have the latest version, downloaded it this morning. My computer specs are Windows 7 Pro SP0 x64, 8gb RAM. I am currently tethering using my android phone, I don't know if that matters or not.

That would be too easy. I am using Win 7 firewall, I made a rule for PerfectTunes, and no luck. PerfectTunes as access to inbound and outbound traffic. Still nothing.
