Re: Asset UPnP v4
Spoon,
I have just have been using the Asset and Advanced-Compilations. When I go into this Menu there is only a folder called "YES", I have to go into this before I get the compilations.
Where is there a entry folder called YES, (that I cannot change the name of)

Re: Asset UPnP v4
Spoon,
I installed the latest Asset onto my WHS 2011 instance and it now shows in the Addons area - but how do I actually access the interface? Going through the WHS Dashboard - I can't see anyway to access the addon. What am I missing?
EDIT: Found the icon after a restart!

Service is better.
If Twonky is crashing, it is best you discuss that on their forum.Leave a comment:

Re: Asset UPnP v4
Local (recommanded) or service?
I understand that service will start with windows whatever the user is but is there any other difference?
I am in need to have both ASSET (audio) and Twonky (video and pictures) installed but Twonky crashes whenever Asset in running. I get this:

Re: Asset UPnP v4
These answers are really helpful.
I have the opera CDs, but I did not rip them myself - this was done by the people I bought the RipNAS from. I will try re-ripping.
With regard to the network, that should be OK - the RipNAS and the Linn are connected via a Netgear gigabit switch. Could there ne a problem with the way that the RipNas, itself, is set up?
Thank you.Leave a comment:

If Kinsky shows a spinny thingy, it means the player does not have enough data from the network to play.Leave a comment:

Re: Asset UPnP v4
ALL Linn products definitively allow gapless playback in conjunction with Asset. So there must be a problem with your setup. I have the following assumption: the two second pause is the default pause used on normal discs between titles - normal discs like popmusic etc., not gapless live- or opera-CDs. So: maybe, in some way, these pauses made it into your rip by some strange coincidence, which has to do with the way that CD was ripped or copied.
Where did you get that music from? What format is it? Did you rip it yourself (and if so: how?), was the rip from the original CD or a burned copy? Do you still have access to that CD, can you compare it in a CD-Player, are the pauses still there?
If the rip is from a burned copy: I am sure, the copy was done adding the default 2 second pause between tracks. You need to rerip it and get rid of that pause (use the silence detection plugin of dbpoweramp and set it to detect digital silence / digital Zero).
To find out, if you have "wrongly gapped" files, you can use and audio editor as well.
If you have an audio editing program on your computer (if not: Audacity is a good freeware), load one of the "gapped" tracks into the software and look, whether you can see silence of 2 seconds at the beginning or the end of the track.
I currently listening to an opera, which has a large number of tracks. Rather than there being breaks between tracks, they should run directly into each other. However, I am getting short (teo second pauses). Watching the time counter on Kinsky Desktop, it spins during these pauses. Is there a way of running tracks into one another and avoiding the pause?
Thank you.Last edited by dvdr; December 24, 2011, 10:29 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Asset UPnP v4
No, it sounds like you might have a slow network, make sure the computer on which Asset is running, is connected by a Ethernet wire direct to router and the DS is also connected direct to router.Leave a comment:

Re: Asset UPnP v4
Thank you - source is definitely set to Playlist. I am using a Linn Majic DSI - are there any settings on that?Leave a comment:

Re: Asset UPnP v4
Make sure you have the source selected as Playlist, not UPnP. There is no settings for removing gaps as it is handled automatically (by the player requesting the next track in a timely fashion).Leave a comment:
