    Update 7th June

bug fix: CoreConverter if overwriting an already existing filename of maximum allowed length (260 chars) then .tmp.ext temp file would go over the allowed 260 char length
bug fix: Music Converter, if existing audio file had a 3 char extension (ie .ape), and converted to .flac, was possible for flac file tha have more than the allowed 260 chars length

I think the best implentation I've seen is to use a temp extention the same length of the original, so that the filename/path is always the exact same as the original..

      example:
      original: my_music_file.flac
      temp: my_music_file.flax

then moving the temp to the destination filename (either overwriting the original or to the new filename/path).

This simple method will never have any length problems, at least none that were not already present, because the length won't change at all.

Some encoders cannot encode unless there is the correct extension on the end.

I think by ".ext" Spoon meant it has the correct extension, i.e. encoding to flac gives ".tmp.flac" or Vorbis gives ".tmp.ogg" and so on.

Nod, I've seen how it overwrites when re-ripping tracks... trackname.flac to trackname.flac.tmp.flac in essence over doubleing the extention length, which is the root cause of the length issue.

IMO the temp file length should never exceed the source file length.

For lame we only include the full releases, most people do not want a beta version.
