Changes

Reading / Writing (reference only) of wave bext ID Tags, bext tags are: Description, Originator, OrigReference, OrigDate, OrigTime, TimeReference, CodingHistory
Vista: Popup info lines up better aligned
Tag Editor (shell right click): Standard items are listed first, others alphabetically sorted, when adding new tag is a drop list of standard names
Tag Editor: helper drop lists for year, track number + genre (remembers unique genres, saved in appdata)
Popup info shows track number as "Track" in line with rest of programs
Switched Lame to NASM encoding, slightly slower, but more crash resistant (tried on > 1GB of audio)
.mpeg added to decodable file types
If encoding only one file, then multi cpu section is not created (so is not tied to a single cpu)
CD Ripper title bar shows album name when ripping
CD Ripper submission of meta data back to freedb and AMG

bug fix: corrupt id3v2 tags could crash tag writer, will now break without overwriting corrupt id tag
bug fix: corrupt wave list id tag would stop the wave file from being decoded, now tag error is reported as info so wave file can decode
bug fix: corrupt wave list id tag can be read if they have unofficial end padding in the list chunk
bug fix: folders can contain a space ' ' as first character
bug fix: filenames ending in .. are preserved
bug fix: CD Ripper would show amg expired message even if unchecked (and had expired)
bug fix: when autocompleting a vlauelist combo box, the autocomplete was being removed
bug fix: mp3 (Lame) might not encode the last frame depending on feeding data
bug fix: when encoding using non live dsp effects, the action is shown in music converter
bug fix: can encode to certain wave ACM formats which would previously fail
bug fix: all codecs - sample rate of high frequency audio files might be read wrong
bug fix: when using DSP effects (both live and non-live, and 32 bit float + high sample rate) the effects could introduce white noise every 1/4 of a second
bug fix: CoreConverter if overwriting an already existing filename of maximum allowed length (260 chars) then .tmp.ext temp file would go over the allowed 260 char length
bug fix: Music Converter, if existing audio file had a 3 char extension (ie .ape), and converted to .flac, was possible for flac file tha have more than the allowed 260 chars length

I think r12.1 was to fix the big bugs (explorer crashing) and r12.2 is to fix some smaller bugs and change the tagging, from what I can tell.

I think r12.1 was to fix the big bugs (explorer crashing) and r12.2 is to fix some smaller bugs and change the tagging, from what I can tell.

thats pretty clear. Hope there are some feature upgrades / changes soon.

Spoon, could you give us a little detail on this? I remember a thread about incomplete final frames but didn't know whether that had been confirmed. Is this related?

Are we losing silence here or a snippet of music?

I'm going from FLAC to LAME mp3; is that "feeding data" that is affected?

Is this a frequent problem or just a once-in-a-great-while problem, and is there anyway to predict or know when it's going to happen?

I thought that 12.1 was only for Power-pack as well? Has R12 reference been updated to either 12.1 or 12.2?

I am a bit lost here. I D/L r12.2 and installed over my registered version without uninstalling r12.1. It works fine but only in single core (multi core disabled in this beta?) conversion mode. That is, only one conversion at a time in a multicore PC.

As it says, if you install this beta onto Reference, you drop down to the PowerPack feature set.

It was quite rare, from what I could tell it was only WMA >> mp3 which would loose the last frame, that is only because the wma decoder could supply the last frame as not containing anything, and lame was not being flushed.
