How do I trim all leading and trailing silence from tracks

Variations of this question have been asked before, but I don't believe I've seen a thread followed all the way through to its conclusion so that others can apply the information.

Basically, I want to trim all leading and trailing zero data, as I would if I were using mp3trimpro.

Will this strategy accomplish that goal -- without negative effects:

Using the dBpoweramp DSP, I select Silence below any 0 db (100%)

    Detection thresold 26 ms.

My hypothesis is that this will trim only completely blank space, leaving only one frame as a safety buffer.

Spoon, will that work -- or am I cutting more or less than I imagine?

    Thank you.

0 dB (100%) would trim even the loudest volume, consider the % as % of maximum volume, so setting to 2% would trim anything with a volume below 2% of maximum

Oh, of course, so to trim complete silence, I'd put the zero in the percent blank?

Does 26 ms -- which I believe is equivalent to one mp3 fame -- seem like a workable buffer?

Or does 27 ms make more sense if I want to ensure that I leave a frame behind as a cushion?

If you have the buffer too small, it could end early (if there is a blip of static noise).

Do you have a recommendation, or should I take the default (50 ms) as that recommendation?

Obviously, even a quarter- or a half-second is pretty insignificant, but I'd like to use a number that makes sense, and I don't know whether that number is 50, 500 or even more!

          I appreciate your expert advice.

50ms is a good starting point.

Thank you. We'll see how this goes.
