Re: Newbie here with questions on dbpoweramp

Hello again! I have a couple of questions concerning music files that are compressed. I have music files that are compressed flac files, and they vary from say 23% to 92% compressed. Should I convert these files using the dbpoweramp FLAC converter and also use the Lossless Uncompressed setting for encoding? It is my understanding that for sound quality these compressed files lack the SQ compared to uncompressed files. I just want to obtain the best SQ from my music files. The main reason I am asking this is because I wasn't 100% sure what file format would be the better one when I download music from HD Tracks. I know that they now have a few different options for downloading such as aiff, alac, flac, and wav. I would assume that the flac files would be the best choice as they can always be converted from what I had read. As always, I really appreciate all the help here from you guys! Thanks again!!!

Sorry, don't be offended, but the above statement is complete nonsense that you must have read somewhere (where the people writing it were completely confused about the nature of lossless files). If it was from any "audiophile" website or magazine, the odds that the writer was confused is even higher. You're fine with FLAC files of any kind (compressed to the max or uncompressed). All will sound the same unless your player is broken. Lossless=Lossless!!
