In an earlier post I asked the following:

"Please recommend settings & workflow. What settings and workflow did you use to rip your cd collection to a lossless format with good tags? I have searched the forums but not found what I need. Also, what are the best settings to assure an accurate rip for cds not in the database (for Mobile Fidelity & DCC discs)? Thank You"

I understand it has only been a week but with no replies I thought that I should ask if anyone knew of a place on the site where answers to be above may reside which my search has not revealed.


I found only two listings of settings but I am unclear as to how well they match my ripping goals.

Some of these options are unique to the drive you are using. Generally, you'd want to (1) use accuraterip database (which dbpoweramp does), then (2) ultra secure setting (which it will use automatically if turned on for CDs it does not find in accuraterip (or which don't match the accuraterip info). Whether you want to turn on C2 or how you set the lead in/out is all a function of your drive. read this link all the way to the end...you'll find this useful.

Thank you so much for responding and I am sorry I am only now replying.

I cannot give you the cd drive info as I am about to buy/build a new system. Given that, any favorite drives? Also, what are your favorite settings for best quality independent of the drive?

Personally, my CD drives normally end up being Lite-On, due to their low cost and my personal excellent experience with the brand. Plextor is what people normally say, though it depends on the model you find.
