I am not sure why your system takes so long to handlle the deletions. Running Windows XP on a 1.3 GHz Celeron with 384 MB of ram this process worked very quickly for me. Sorry my advice did not work out for you. In you case, the uninstall/reinstall would, indeed be faster.
There is only one programmer for all of these programs and that is Spoon. He is attentive and responsive to user problems but bugs, unless they are easily tracked down and have an easy fix may take a while. In the case of CD Writer, it may be a while before this bug can be fixed since Spoon is neck-deep in a re-write of Music Converter and he has said that re-writes of the other dB apps, including CD Writer will get updated after that.
