    Re: MAD decoder

Yes I have done that in the past, but I wanted the best archival copies I could get for future transcoding in the format of my choice
and the knowledge of how it was done.
That being said, I did see where at least some files in allofmp3 seem to be available in Flac. This is a lossless codec meaning it will be better for archival storage than your 384 kbs. "mp3". And I seriously doubt you would find a significant difference for your purposes between a 320 kbs mp3 (which is also an option for some or all of the allofmp3 tracks, I believe) and the 384 kbs "free format" mp3 (authentic mp3-mpeg1, layer3-supports bitrates only up to 320 kbs).

But again, I do wonder why your other MAD programs can open and play these files and the dAP/dMC MAD-based betas don't. Perhaps da man can tell us.

    Best wishes,
    Bill Mikkelsen

Yes and I take advantage of that whenever possible. All my CDs are archived
      in Flac also.
