Two questions on dbpoweramp audio player

dbpoweramp audio player is very professional but i have two important questions about (sorry for my english, i dont speak very well this language in deep way):

1 - I'm a "winamp 3 user" and when i started for the first time dbpoweramp audio player it has seemed to me that the sound is in some way a little different from winamp: i've noticed that the bass is a little lower than winamp, and the high frequencies are instead a little more louder. maybe there isnt this change, its only a personal illusion of my ears. i've seen also two different audio output codecs: waveout and directx. waveout is like a radio-style: lower bass and a flat sound . directx would seem that them are "the original" sound for my ears (i've selected waveout only one time, then i switched forever to directx output).
now my doubt is that also winamp (2.xx or 3.xx, i use both) now is using the "maybe new" dbpoweramp codecs (probably) included on the install package of dbpoweramp audio player. could you tell me that i'm wrong? that dbpoweramp audio player use only my pc's old codecs and there arent any change on the settings of my old codecs (like bass and high frequencies)? if yes instead, there is a method to restore all with "my" old codecs? (i dont have installed any other additional pack of dbpoweramp audio player)

2 - can dbpoweramp audio player change permanently in some way the volume (or also the volume normalization) of my mp3 songs? there is any kind of option that can this work? i hope no, because i'm an "just arrived" user of this beatiful player and i dont have many confidence with that (maybe there is some hidden option activated).

    Thanks for the answers

Re: Two questions on dbpoweramp audio player

dBpowerAMPs Codecs are totally seperate from anything else. There is a difference between DirectX and Wave out, but it tends to be only the volume levels - perhaps waveout is clipping on whatever you are sending it to (a hifi, or just speakers?)

    >can dbpoweramp audio player change permanently in some way the volume

No, it can work out a volume level for each track, but this is only applied when the track is playing, the original file is untouched.

Re: Two questions on dbpoweramp audio player

Ok, now i have i've understood that dbpoweramp audio player's codecs are completely "isolated" from the rest of pc's audio codecs, and my mp3 song are also completely untouched from this program (that is mp3 are "safe" at 100% from every option/process of the program). Is it right my affirmation? So i can stay calm :-)

Waveout, if i've understood your explanation (my english is not perfect...), sends a very appropriate signal with particular frequencies to the audio system that i'm using in that moment.
directx, instead, play always at the same frequencies (bass, ecc, are untouched). Is it right?

I'm using pc speakers with a subwoofer (4+1) but the difference between directx and waveout is visible.

i think it depends on yopur sound card and it's capabilities. i am pretty sure wav out is using the wav table on the sound card and will need to process more things before the final sound output.

directx should run fine if not a little faster or rather better latency than wav out. but once again that depends on your sounds card.

ok, thanks for your answer. now i've understood the probably problem of difference between waveout and directx.

now my final doubt is this:

well i wouldn't take my exact words as 100% correct about the differences between directx and wavoutput. but it is something along those lines anyhow.

hmmm.... if you are asking if you start up dbpoweramp music player and select your current mp3 music files for play back will it alter my original mp3's in any permanent way? then no. it's only when using dmc (dbpoweramp music converter) that will alter your mp3's through conversions/transcoding or whatever you may be using dmc for.

dap is a music player. and some music players will make your mp3's sound different from one player to the other. just as it is with hardware Hi Fi systems. the hi fi system doesn't alter the original source of music in any way. it only alters the output of how you hear the music.

what is your native language? there may be others here that speak it?
