Re: File will not convert to MPC
What are the parameters of this source file? 44KHz, 16 bit, 2 channel. -
Re: File will not convert to MPC
As you say 44 x 16 x 2. I have also tried to convert both the flav and wavpack above to MPC with the same error.Comment

Re: File will not convert to MPC
The file you provided works fine when converting to mpc 'extreme'. Try starting your computer in safemode, does the file convert then?Comment

Re: File will not convert to MPC
OK tried extreme, safe mode all fail with the same message and leave me with a 14kB file. Other files convert fine to MPC.
I just stumbled across this file and thought you would want to know. I am just going to try my backup machine and will let you know.Comment

Re: File will not convert to MPC
So on back up machine now and same problem with all suggested settings.
Both PC's: Win10 1809 64bit. dBpoweramp at 16.6 with all current codecs (as of this morning).
Would you like me try anything else?Comment

Re: File will not convert to MPC
No extra settings from DSP. Image of settings attached, note folder settings. BUT other files chosen at random convert fine. If you click the 'Encoder' button it says MPPenc.exe in the Program Files\dBpoweramp\Encoder folder folder.
Right - I have the answer but I cannot figure out why. I converted the master flac file (in the root of 'Drive F:' to all the other formats I have installed for a set of unicode test files to test the Tagger I am using. All of them converted fine by using Source Drive:\Source Path\Source Filename. After all, the converter changes the extension so there is no filename clash.
With this one file I have now selected Public\Music (which is empty) and it converted fine. So: - Is there a Security or permissions issue at play here? If so why can I successfully convert other random flac files placed in the 'F:Root'?

Re: File will not convert to MPC
NTFS - GPT - No
I discovered earlier that if I replace AC&*8623;DC-Rock 'N' Roll Damnation with AC-DC-Rock 'N' Roll Damnation then it converts fine.Comment

Re: File will not convert to MPC
You need to enable short filenames, that is how the files are passed to the encoder.Comment

Re: File will not convert to MPC
Right that fixed it, but creates 2 questions.
1) Why did it work ok sending it to a different folder?
2) Having enabled 8.3, am I going to run into any problems in normal use?Comment
