    Problem converting FLAC to ALAC...

I have a bunch of FLAC files that I am trying to convert to ALAC for iTunes/iDevices and some of the output ALAC files have pops that weren't in the original FLAC files...

    Here is an example
    FLAC Source...
    FFBBC185 I:\Multimedia\FLAC\The Benjamin Gate\['untitled']\02 - Scream.flac

    ALAC destination...
    17ECBE5C I:\Multimedia\Apple Lossless\The Benjamin Gate\['untitled']\02 - Scream.m4a
I do have "verify files" enabled but the files are not being flagged as

    dBpoweramp Music Converter: Registered Reference
    Release 14.2

Rerunning the conversion will usually result in a clean file, but sometimes I will have to reconvert twice to get a good output.

Visit codec central >> utility codecs. And install calculate audio crc. After converting convert both the flac and alac file to Calculate audio crc, the CRCs show should be the same

I already have Calculate CRC installed, it's what I used to generate the checksums from my example discrepancy posted above. I apologize for not being clear on that point.

Install a SMART checking program, such as http://www.hdsentinel.com/ which can check the health of your HDD.

At this stage it is fairly 100% to assume there is no bug in encoding as the decode check would have picked it up, the only thing left is storage integrity.

My drives are fine. I have seen errors both writing the output to my local hard drive, as well as my RAID-5 storage array (Samba 3), there have been no SMART errors, and no drive errors in the logs.

I'm perplexed by this....I have converted literally thousands of FLAC files to ALAC and I've never seen that problem. What other DSPs are in play?

No DSP's but I'm now chasing other issues with my RAID-5 array, possibly motherboard/controller related, so Spoon might have been on the right track. I will need to resolve those issues first and see if the problems are resolved.
