    Need help installing AAC

I've installed the AAC encoder but keep getting a message something else needs to be installed. I already installed the decoder and encoder from AAC codec central. Then went to the site it directed me to and installed the link it was requesting. Still no luck? Picture 4 isn't showing all the files that should be there.

    Re: Need help installing AAC

    Try this

This codec relies on the Nero Digital AAC encoder, it can be downloaded only from Nero directly:

    Installation Instructions:

    1) download the Nero codec Zip package from:

    http://www.nero.com/eng/down-ndaudio.php (Direct Link: ftp://ftp6.nero.com/tools/NeroDigitalAudio.zip)

    2) Open the zip file (by double clicking on it) and open the folder win32, select neroAacEnc and copy (Edit menu >> Copy). Open a new explorer window, it is important the old zip window is left open (press Windows Key + E) and browse to:

    C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\encoder\m4a Nero (AAC)

In the above folder select (Edit menu >> Paste). After extracting the following files should be present in the above folder:

    encoder Text Document
    Nero Bitmap Image
    neroAacEnc Application

You are converting to AAC or M4a (Nero AAC)?

I want to convert from CD to FLAC and AAC

          What is the difference between
          AAC (Advanced Audio Compression)
          M4A (AAC)

The same message pops up for both choices

You will probably need the M4a (Nero AAC) not AAC on its own.

I think you need to copy the NeroAccEnc.exe program to both the AAC and Nero (AAC) encoder folders, or at least point the codecs to where you have put it.

Remove the AAC encoder from the Uninstall A Program.

                    I got it to work

                    Unistalled everything/reinstalled
Installed only the M4a (Nero AAC)
Installed through Windows 7 Admin account, as opposed to Standard User account if that mattered.

i too am having problems getting the nero aac codec to work now. it worked fine up until i installed this

so have uninstalled & reinstalled & followed this instruction

                      encoder Text Document
                      Nero Bitmap Image
                      neroAacEnc Application
then all i get in the C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\encoder\m4a Nero (AAC) folder is the 'neroAacEnc Application' when i should see

                      encoder Text Document
                      Nero Bitmap Image
                      neroAacEnc Application

                      any help please?

You are missing the dBpoweramp part of the encoder, uninstall the dBpoweramp m4a codec, then reinstall.

uninstalled everything related to dbpoweramp. restarted pc. reinstalled just dbpoweramp. copied 'neroAacEnc' and pasted into folder described above. still shows just the 'neroAacEnc Application' in that folder :(

When you install the dBpoweramp m4a codec it installs these files:

                            \encoder\m4a Nero (AAC).dll
                            \encoder\m4a Nero (AAC)\encoder.txt
                            ..etc

Make sure you are installing that codec to the same folder as dBpoweramp.
