Image up/downscaling algorithms?

i may be missing something obvious, but can I not specify which upscaling or downscaling algorithm the Image Converter will use? it unfortunately becomes almost useless to me if i can't batch downscale images in a high quality (by which i mean lanczos or bicubic, rather than nearest neighbor or bilinear)

i feel there must be some simple code that could be inserted via the "custom" command, right?
