  • Should I Re-rip MP3s using batch ripper or use batch converter to adjust compression?

When I initially ripped the CDs, I used the software’s “standard” MP3 setting (LAME encoder with variable bit rate (190KBs estimated) which upon closer inspection under the “advanced” button shows frequency=source, channels=auto, and quality=default).

    Afterwards, when I perform...

OSX vs Windows quality secure rip

    Hi all,

I haven't watched this site for a while and was very surprised to find an OS X version of dbpoweramp available now. Thinking about a new system to do a batch rip of approx 600-1000 CDs I am now wondering which version to use (OS X or Windows). My main concern is the quality of...

Ripping Flac and MP3 - Sound quality

I'm completely new to using the dBpoweramp CD Ripper.

Just something I'm a little curious about - For quite a while I've been ripping some of my CD's with Windows Media Player at the highest quality of 320 bit rate. Now keep in mind all CD's being ripped are originals. When I open up Audacity...

  • Audio Properties Tab, Audio Quality goes from "High" to "Medium" after normalization.

    Hi,

I am new to dbpoweramp so I'm learning about it still.

I was looking at the Audio Properties Tab for some files that I normalized using Sound Forge 10.0, comparing the specs shown for the original and normalized ones. I noticed that the normalized files, even though...

  • What can affect the most your rip and encoding quality?

The title pretty much explains my subject. I have been using dbPoweramp for more than a year now and as I decided to enter the long process of ripping my whole library with FLAC I was wondering what is the ideal usage of the computer (software or hardware) to not affect too much the ripping and encoding...

Flac to MP3 96 bit - noticeably poor quality

I am converting via the command line from flac to 96 bit MP3. When we do this with other tools that we currently use, the playback quality is fine. However, the ones that I'm creating using CoreConverter are muddy and muffled.

    The options I'm using are:
    -convert_to="mp3...

mp3 LAME | Advanced Options: Channels

    Hello,

It would be nice if this section was added to the application's Help Menu. In the meantime, could you indicate how the Music Converter handles each option.

    Thanks!

    "Quality" of Converted MP3

After converting a file from WMA to MP3, I notice that in the ID3 tag produced by Lame it says the quality is "78 (V2 and q2)".

Was wondering what the number means, and how to change it?

This is exactly what it says when I right click on the file...
