lame and qaac quality question

Hi
can I ask a question about lame 320 and V0 quality and QAAC quality settings?

on both encoder there is the setting quality normal or high

does the encoders give better results or do they use old engine?
seeing i have read on many forums ,that high quality in lame today it's unless because the results are the same with default quality settings like qaac

I do not think there is much difference between the two settings, the main difference is the bit rate.
