    No Access to Onine Databases

I know that there has been a similar question recently. However my circumstances are slighlty different:

    1. Metadata only provided from DBpowermap cache. No access provided to Discogs etc. Their headings are greyed out.
    2. Registered 16.1 version upgraded from v.15.? this morning.
    3. Security settings checked and PerfectTunes is allowed.
    4. Version 15.? ( registered) also was only providing cached metadata for the past months.
    5. Download was from registration retrieve page.
    6. Tried v.16 install both overwriting v 15 and after uninstalling v15. Result the same.
    5. OS is Windows 10

    Any ideas?

    Regarding 3.)

What security software are you using and are the dBpoweramp programs allowed too?

Security is Symantec Norton Security. It registers 3 dBPowweramp programs : dBPoweramp CD Ripper, dBPoweramp Control, and dBPoweramp Thunk 32. All are set to " Allow".

I also temporarily disabled the Norton firewall. No go, still greyed out.

Has Symantec Norton Security been turned off during the installation?

If they are greyed out you do not have the Reference version, which is needed to access these. You have upgraded from R15 Reference to R16 Reference?

" Has Symantec Norton Security been turned off during the installation?"

No, Norton Security was turned on during the installation. It checked the files and authorised them.

This is what I bought which was the upgrade offer :

18 Nov 2016 you purchased dBpoweramp Reference R16 & PerfectTUNES - Single [Windows only] costing £28.80 (GBP). Your credit card bill will include a charge labeled as DBPOWERAMP

Did you download the R16 install files by clicking on the link in the email, you have received after the purchase? Have you checked, that you are running the reference version?

The link in the email takes me to the same registration retrieval page from which I downloaded the applications.

The R16 installation is described upon opening as " Reference Registered".

this was not an actual issue. turns out that no data was available from the current sources. once i submitted a new entry to music brainz and did a refresh, the info showed up.

i suspect this may be needed a bit more frequently with the recent withdrawl of AMG.

Further to my posting confirming that it is the Reference version that is running I uninstalled it and re-installed from the link in the purchase confirmation email. This was just to eliminate a possibility. However, as anticipated, this did not improve things and the situation remains as described - no acccess to any databases other than the cache.

How Do I Get My Money Back?

You have sold me a product that does not work. I reported the fault below ( No Access to Online Databases). I have not received any useful help. I want my money refunded.

Perhaps have the patience to let the issue be investigated? We need to establish the facts, and you are giving up before they are fully known.

The first step would be to run:

...also how to do a full reset of dBpoweramp? (if dBpoweramp crashes for some reason) Where does dBpoweramp save its files / settings? It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

Then reinstall and test CD Ripper without changing any settings.

Many thanks. This solved both the issue reported and an odd problem that I was having with the way a file had been written for a multi disc set where tracks had been mixed up from different discs in the set producing a nonsensical running order for replay.

Yes I did indeed appear impatient but, having waited a number of hours for any response after answering all questions, it looked as if the thread had gone dead. So I anticipated that asking for my money back might produce some activity
