    sample offset

    hello everyone!
    trust all are well.

    i am using 2 drives :
    [A] the Apple SuperDrive x 2 ( which is HL-DT-ST DVDRW GX50N )
[B] an ASUS external slim DVD-RW SDRW-08D2S-U LITE

1 - on the Windows version of dBpower
the [A] both configures on the 1st shot, so no problem, the sample offset of 6 is set ( which is even as per https://www.accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm )
the [B] is shown as "purge" on the https://www.accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm , so have carried out the "key" disc procedure & have got a sample offset of 6, here too rips are fine.

2 - on the Mac version (OS sonoma)
the [A] on XLD, i have entered the value of the offset as 6 manually, the rips seem fine & on the drive [B], i have not configured as i don't know what value to use.
the [A] on dBpower gives me a value of 48, as compared to 6 on the windows version, is that correct & do i use that or am i doing something wrong ?

A on macOS, did it need 3 discs to configure?

Have you had an Apple Super drive in the past? with a different drive?

      hi,

on the Mac OS, for the [A], it did not ask for the key discs
(if you notice, on the Mac OS, the drive shows as SuperDrive & on the Windows Version it shows the HL-DT-ST DVDRW GX50N)

yes, i am using the Apple SuperDrive for some time now, in fact i bought a 2nd one, as it seems, Apple is going to discontinue it.

That is the reason, Apple show the drive as Superdrive, even though it can contain different drives internally with different offsets, as you already have configured a different super drive (and a different make of drive), it would have used 3 key discs to find the offset. This time, CD Ripper did not see any changes.

yes, i would also think so but the ripper did not ask me for the key discs.
          i just inserted one & i got the "congratulations.... " message ...
is there any ways to un-configure (if that is the correct word) this drive & start fresh ??
or assuming that it is a HL-DT-ST DVDRW GX50N, as it shows on the windows version, and i use the offset as 6, on XLD, is there a way to set the offset to 6 manually ??

You would have to clear all settings, by removing the file:

in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Illustrate and this path: %appdata%\dbpoweramp (type into Windows Explorer address bar and press enter)

Note macOS does not set an offset unless the drive is in the database, so would rip with 0 bytes offset.

              sorry, i still confused ...
on the link the drive DVDRW GX50N shows an offset as 6, do i still use a 0 (zero) as an offset ?
