Re: Problem With All Media Guide

I just purchased the dBpoweramp AMG activation because it expired but the small program I downloaded comes up with the error:
"Unable to connect to dBpoweramp.com, please check internet connection"
I have disabled firewall and have no progams in memory blocking any tcp/ip. Plz help!

        Start >> run >> cmd

Ping reg.dbpoweramp.com, does it get a response?

          Packets sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0, <0% lost>

Keep trying, program still doesn't work. Restarted in safe mode with networking and added program to allowed in firewall. Still no luck.

A program is blocking access then, probabbly the firewall or other internet security program (some change the data stream). Try briefly closing those programs, then try the activation.

                What firewall/antivirus are you using?

                  Thanks for your time,

OS is Windows XP Prof x64
Symantec Client Security AntiVirus 2006 (disabled)
Windows Firewall (I've put the program under allowed & tried turning off)
Firewall in Router currently turned off

I turned windows firewall off, restarted in safe mode + networking, but still have the prob.

Re: Problem With All Media Guide

Windows firewall and router firewall shouldn't affect dMC, I am unsure about Symantec, does it include a firewall feature also?

Re: Problem With All Media Guide

Alright...I've uninstalled Norton. Still states "Unable to connect to dBpoweramp.com, please check internet connection" I have no firewalls enabled. All other software I have can download all updates with no problems. Is it because I have XP 64bit?

No, other people are using XP 64-bit and able to connect to AMG. Are you using a proxy server?

Re: Problem With All Media Guide

No proxy, never needed to try it. My exact setup is a Quest DSL Modem, WRT54G router with all firewall/protection off. Windows auto detected internet. I setup home networking for file/printer sharing. I use Norton AV and Windows firewall as the only constant protection programs. I've got Spybot & Adaware installed but never protecting to scan every now and then.

Should I open any specific ports, do I need to reg a DLL, maybe excersize some demons?

Have you looked in the windows event logs or any router based logs?
