Re: Newly Registered Asset UPnP Very Slow To Respond and Sticks Playing on Home Theat

I have to say I am quite ignorant about my home network. The shop I bought the home theatre from last year told me that they used Asset UPnP on their shop network, and suggested I try it at home. So I installed the Free version on my laptop, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Home theatre identified it and was able to play tracks from it, no problem. I just assumed that Asset UPnP on my laptop used the same wireless connection to the modem that Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook used to access the internet.
The reason why I decided to upgrade to the registered version is that I wanted to start making Playlists to use, because having 6000+ tracks makes it hard to find tracks to play at parties, etc. So I have been seen comments on the forums that you need the registered version to set-up and access your own manually created M3U playlists from your PC.
But now I can't seem to access any music from my laptop on my Home Theatre, on both the Free and Registered versions.

No UPnP server really should be using wireless, it is simply not fast enough (over the long term), you will have drop outs and other issues.

Try switching the service account mode, then switch back to local account.

OK, trying it now - still running Free version, must be scanning library because it shows 0 Tracks, 0 Albums.

I have to say that there is no warning to us network-ignorant users about Wireless being not fast enough - all the customer-facing material suggests that Asset UPnP is the answer on the home network.

        Asset UPnP (DLNA compatible)
Asset is a UPnP (DLNA compatible) audio server, designed as an audio only server, which an emphasis on quality and enhanced browsing abilities. UPnP is a method of sharing media content between devices, where audio files are stored on a computer, server or NAS, multiple audio devices around the home network can play audio from the UPnP server (devices such as Linn DS, Naim NDX, XBox 360, PS3, etc).

OK, switched to service account mode, then used advanced settings to add music library, this time scanned 6000+ Tracks and 1000+ Albums. Then switched back to local account mode - then changed to 6000+ Tracks and 0 Albums. Returned to advanced settings (still in local account mode), checked that my music library folders had been retained, clicked OK, returned to main window, started scanning again and this time showed 1000+ Albums in local mode. Tried playing on Home Theatre again and still took 30+ seconds to start playing a track.
Reviewed some old posts on the forum (using search for "wireless"), found an old thread from 2009 where another user resolved their PS3 performance issues by using "as .WAV" option - it isn't too clear how this applied, so I will have a dig around and see if I can find this.

Found a setting under Audio Format Streaming, changed MP3 from "as is" to "as WAV", tried playing tracks on Home Theatre again, this time it played my tracks without delay. Trying again changing MP3 to "as MP3" to see what happens.

Changed the Audio Format Streaming setting for MP3 from "as WAV" to "as MP3", tried playing tracks on Home Theatre again, this time it played my tracks without delay. Go figure. Look forward to your response.

Your mp3 files must be configured in a way that your player does not like, by doing as wav or as mp3, Asset decodes and reencodes.
