AAC files!

Yesterday I upgraded to the latest version 2023 (ref) in order to convert some AAC files to m4a, but each file I try will not convert. The log reports corrupt files.
AFAIK the files are not corrupt, they play just fine, and other software will convert these files.
I feel that I wasted my money, but maybe I need an extra Codec or something?
