    Smarter Bit-Rate Conversion

This software is excellent, it's fast and needs very little user input. I would really like to see an improved conversion dialog though that allows the bitrate to be taken from the source file as well. Converting a large number of files with varying bit-rates can be tedious. I want to keep the fidelity I've got in my files but don't want to waste space up converting lower bit rate files.

My vision of the ideal conversion would allow a user to enter a bit-rate map similar to the following:

    Min: 120 Max: 140 Output: 128
    Min: 141 Max: 176 Output: 160
    Min: 161 Max: 210 Output: 192

    Blah, blah, blah.

    Thanks!

One way to do this is via dAP and its Music Collection. You sort by bitrate, then right-click and Convert to your desied bitrate. Not the best of solutions, but a temporary one at least.

That will work, I don't think I'd call it ideal but it will certainly save me alot of time. Thanks!

You can do the same thing in Windows Explorer. Make sure you display the extra columns (View > Choose Details ).
