    Auto-Fill For Editing

It'd be nice to have an auto-fill feature for the elements on the Edit window. If I'm in the process of typing in the artist name, it should scroll down to the appropriate artist on the list and populate the artist textbox based on what I've typed.

    For example:
    • If I type in "Jimmy" it would jump down to the first Jimmy (let's say Jimmy Chamberlain Complex) and the Artist textbox would be populated with this.
    • If I continue typing "Jimmy Ea" then it should jump down to Jimmy Eat World.
    • Of course, if I needed to type in a new artist name like "Jimmy Earl", it would allow me to.

I feel the benefits are 1) it's an obvious short cut to typing in the whole name and 2) it gives a better perspective of what artists are available for you to select from (like Pearl Jam vs. Pearl Jam w/Billy Corgan).

If you catalog your music files using the My Music Collection (MMC) feature of dAP (dBpowerAMP Audio Player), this allows you to scroll your collection in just that fashion and you can edit from there. Is this what you had in mind?

    Best wishes,

Yes, I'm using the Audio Player... but my point was in the actual Editing window.

And, obviously, this could also be applied to other fields besides just the Artist field. A special case would be the Album field which could display values based on the artist chosen.

Edit: I just realized that the stuff below applies to dAP and I should've posted it in the appropriate forum, but my thoughts were just jumping.

You could also apply this concept to the main dAP window to jump down to the first instance of a value within the column being sorted. So if I'm sorting by the Track name and I press the letter "D" it would jump down to the first track which starts with that letter, and if I kept typing it would continue refining it until it comes to a letter which doesn't match and then start over again. (This is how the Windows file structure works.)

Of course, you could say "just use the Search feature" but many times you'll encounter multiple instances of a value before you actually reach the intended result. For example, if I type in "Meat" I might come across the Meat Puppets when I'm really trying to find that song by The Smiths... Meat is Murder. Anyway, you get the idea.
