from windows media to ipod

i have windows media player through that i have downloaded 200+ protected songs from the media guide which i cannot burn to a cd or sync to my ipod(i cnt figure out how to sync to ipod from wmp either i dont think i can :vmad: ) and i cant transfer them to itunes to sync them bcuz they r protected itunes does not evn recognise them as songs if someone can help me i will be very gratefull

Have you tried to use Windows Media Player to burn an audio cd with some of those files? Then you can re-rip them to unprotected formats.

its not letting me i think i thnk its bcuz they r protected it might just be the fact that i need better cds if n e of you have burned media guide songs thn tell me wat cds u r using

Having a really hard time understanding your slang here!

What are the extensions of your files?

If you can play them you should be able to burn an audio cd with them from WMP. In theory at least.

in windows media player they have a download system called media guide through that i can down load encrypted songs tht are only able to play on windows media player i tried to import them to itunes but since they are encrypted the itunes player does not even recognize them as a filewhen i go to burn cds (through windows media player or itunes or musicmatch or nero burning rom) they do not burn it tries thn sars can not synchronize because they are encrypted

Ok, again, what is the file extension that you see for those files? Are they .wma or .oma or what?

And since you can play them in Windows Media Player, have you tried to burn an audio cd through the Windows Media Player cd burning utility?

THEY R PROTECTED so my computer doesent allow me to do anything with them except for PLAYING them on windows media player

Curious... I didn't think .dll files were media. I always thought they were Dynamic Link Libraries, but hey, I could be wrong...

If Windows Media Player won't allow you to burn an AUDIO CD from the files you have downloaded from their services, then you need to contact them. I've downloaded about 15 songs from MSN Music and I have never had a problem using WMP10 to burn an audio cd. So I don't know how to solve your problem. Again, if it's all stuff you've legally acquired from Microsoft or one of their music partners, then I would contact them.

What did you expect when started using MS codec? Such a corporation will do anything to keep bucks coming, everything else in their situation would be only loosing them! Freedom of user is not for MS (and the music companies) a way to preserve their monopoly. :vmad:

OK, that's it. I just wanted to say, there are many other solutions, which won't tell you, what you can do with your (legally bought) music! I use free ogg but the choice is yours!

OK, number 1 error: to go on buying more music that way without testing to see what you can and cannot do with the first one you bought.

.dll makes no sense as any type of media file. You have got your folder mixed up probably.

.asf may be audio or video.

If you are the one who bought them from the online store through Windows Media Player, by downloading them onto that particular computer, signed in as the same user (probably administrator is required) then you should have the license for these files, therefore you should be able to burn an audio cd with them.

The same holds for Real Media files pruchased through Real Player or Real One.

Don't bother with the iPod for now. Simply worry about turning your purchased media files into unprotected audio files.

Group them by type and work on them separately.
