Am I the olny one that hates sonicstage?

Please Help. I see that your one of the more knowledgeable people on this forum... I have a question for ya, I am trying to use a sony device to play music. Sounds simple enough. My question is this.

    Is .oma = .atrac

If not, what utility do you recommend for converting .oma, .wma, .mp3 to this ridiculous .atrac format ( the only format my device will play)?

    any response is much thanx

***sorry Christian, didn't read the PM vs. everyones benefit...

No. It wouldn't surprise me that you would be in the minority if you did like it.

I believe that .oma and .omg aer used by atrac, atrac3, and atrac3+. .atp is also used sometimes, I'm not sure exactly how that all fits in.

You might want to take a look at this thread, especially post #12 on p2:

        Re: .WA3 File Support

atrac3 is OK, not that impressive though, and besides its sony :thumbdown

a file with a 22050 hz sample rate can produce audio up to 11025 hz, just above half of what the human ear can hear, CDs are 44100hz, because then they can procuce just above 20khz (dont forget there is a factor of 2 involved when converting from samplerate to audio frequency)

to effectively rename a file, you must set windows so show all extentions, if you didnt do that then you end up with song.wa3.wav instead of your intended song.wa3 from song.wav... either way, WMP being a directshow app, should have no problem playing it back even if you name it song.atrac3sucks, since the extention doesnt matter

          Re: .WA3 File Support

          .wa3 exists.

          download one from my topic:
Hi! I have small problem with atrac-format music. I want to make atrac in format like that below. It's not normal atrac - it can be played in winamp when i change name to wav, but all programs tells me that's atrac. Atrac files from SonicStage (from Sony's' site) are different, even with same bitrate...(can't play in
