looking for a way to convert a large library from flac to alac, hopefully keeping the tags intact.

I would not mind a sample of one of these files. Apparently the streams are stored in the MP4 container.
Can somebody point me to were I could obtain one?
Can ITunes create them?

Also, Apple just released a Software Development Kit for iTunes, which might help Spoon out with this work:
This SDK provides header files, documentation, and sample JScript files demonstrating how to use the iTunes for Windows COM interface. Next week for the lossless decoder + tag editor. For encoding the Apple
Quicktime mp4 plugin will encode to lossless if it is set as the last encoding type in QuickTime.Comment
