more inclusive search (to ignore accents)

I have a lot of argentinian song titles in MMC. A lot of them have typical spanish accented characters like ñ, á, é, í, ú.

When I search in MMC, I would like to type "portena" and get a hit for "porteña", or search for "corazon" and get hits for "corazón". The reason is that it is hard to type these characters quickly on a standard US keyboard - for example ñ is ALT+0241. I would like my search for these words to be quicker and easier - by ignoring accents and returning all hits with and without accented characters.

It is standard to ignore accents when searching, for example try Google search. I would like, if possible, MMC to ignore accents when searching, so that in search mode o and ó are the same, and so are ñ and n, or é and e and so on.

    Thanks!

    Hi Spoon,

Is the above (not distinguishing between accented and unaccented characters when searching) possible to do in MMC at all?

    Cheers and happy holidays!

If you create a list then it can be done, the list should have accented character and normal, ie

      ñ n

        Hi Spoon,

A list that is sufficient for Spanish is the following:

        á a
        é e
        í i
        ñ n
        ó o
        ú ü u
        ¡ !
        ¿ ?
        Á A
        É E
        Í I
        Ñ N
        Ó O
        Ú Ü U

(the line with "ú ü u" means all three should be treated as if it is a "u"; same for "Ú Ü U" -> "U")

Is this the sort of list you mean?

        Thanks!! :komisch12
