    Record Levels

Can you come up with some sort of auto level control when recording with the Auxiliary Input like most cassette recorders have

    Thanks Nick

        Re: Record Levels

No, I think he is asking for AGC (automatic gain control). AGC will usually very quickly reduce the gain of the input source (mic or line in) if the instantaneous signal level becomes too high (to avoid clipping the signal), and will slowly increase the gain if the average signal level stays below some lower threshold. The idea is to automatically adjust the gain of the input source to get a reasonable recording level.

AGC can be convenient, but can also introduce some annoying changes in recording level as the music changes from very soft to very loud parts, and back to soft again. If AGC is implemented, it must be optional. The quality of the recording is much better when the gain is adjusted manually, and stays at the same setting for the entire song.

          Yes AGC is what I
would like... I agree it should be optional ..
