I'm looking for dynamic range compression capability.
This is for producing classical music CD's that can be listened to in a car. Keep the top volume but compress the rest.
Change the volume at each instant to something like (KT+V)/(K+1)
where K is compression factor, T is top volume and V is the original instant volume.
The adaptive normalization in DSP effects is an approximation, but it essentially brings everything up to the top volume, so all dynamics beyond a short period (say a few seconds) is lost.
