Spam fighting...

There's got to be a better way to fight spam here. I logged in last night and there were seven PAGES of new post results with scores of spam postings.

I take it that volunteer moderators delete them manually, but smaller versions of this are happening several times a day now.

There's got to be a better way...

I have offered to be a mod to help delete these. I agree, it gets totally out of control.

These spam attacks are not automated (atleast the signup is a real person), they mostly originate from Vietnam, there are 2 choices, we put-up with the spam and remove it (at the same time blacklist Vietnam and China over time), or we move all posts to a moderation queue...

I see stats for spam-o-matic, so it looks like its installed, and I have noticed a significant decrease in spam on the boards!

Yes it works well, anything with a url link (basically all spam) goes to approval, so I remove manually, without anyone ever seeing the message.
