    More 'Naming' space! Please?

    Greetings Sppon,

I have an EXTREMELY complex naming specification for my audio files. I have now realised there is a character limit imposed, and although my naming specification does work, I need to add to it but cannot do so as I run into this character limit. It appears the character limit is 1000, and I was wondering if this could be increased? Please?

Just for reference, here is the naming specification I cannot use (the last character is cut off):

    [[UPPER][extension]][]\[[tag]Album Type[]s]\[IFEQUALS]Album Type,Album,[album artist]\[][IFEQUALS]Album Type,Audiobook,[album artist]\[][IFEQUALS]Album Type,Single,[album artist]\[][TRIM][TRIMLASTFOLDER][TRIMLASTFOLDER][TRIMLASTFOLDER][album][][][][]\[IFVALUE]Album Number,[IF!EQUALS]Album Number,0,[tag]Album Number[] . [],[IFVALUE]Volume Number,[IF!EQUALS]Volume Number,0,[tag]Volume Number[] . [],[IFMULTI][disc] . [][][][TRIM][TRIMLASTFOLDER][TRIMLASTFOLDER][TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][album][][][][]\[IFVALUE]Album Number,[IFVALUE]Volume Number,[IF!EQUALS]Volume Number,0,[tag]Volume Number[] . [],[IFMULTI][disc] . [][],[IFVALUE]Volume Number,[IFMULTI][disc] . [][][][TRIM][TRIMLASTFOLDER][TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][album][][][][]\[IFVALUE]Album Number,[IFVALUE]Volume Number,[IFMULTI][disc] . [][][][TRIM][TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][TRIMFIRSTFOLDER][album][][][][]\[track][IFEQUALS]Rip Status,Secure,[IF!EQUALS]Rip Status,Secure,![][][IF!EQUALS]Rip Status,Secure,![] . [artist] . [title]

Rather complex I know! But it is neccessary I assure you :-P

To duplicate the issue: Copy and paste the above naming specification into the 'Naming' field, then press 'OK', then check the 'Naming' field and you will notice the very last character is cut off (any subsequent characters are also cut off).

    Kind regards,

    Jason.

    Jason,

See also my 'set file naming' post. I think the best solution for both 'problems' would be to change the single-line-edit to a multy-line-edit control and provide a bit more space.

      Re: More 'Naming' space! Please?

      Greetings,

I recall reading a post that suggested this, I was actually trying to find it at one point so I could read it properly, but I could not find it. A multi-line editor would be incredibly handy! I have managed to resolve my particular issue by introducing a new tag field, not the optimal solution as I am doubling up on data, but it does work.

I have also come across at least one bug in the handling of the 'Naming' string - that is, '[disc_total]' cannot be used in conjunction with '[ifvalue]', '[ifequals]', or '[if!equals]' - a workaround is to add spaces as padding and use that as the basis for the comparison. For instance, '[ifvalue]disc_total,<code if value>,<code if no value>' will NOT work, instead I use '[ifequals] [disc_total] , ,<code if value>[][if!equals] [disc_total] , ,<code if no value>[]'. There are other bugs and anomalies as well, but I cannot recall any at the moment.

      Kind regards,

      Jason.
