I'd buy dbPowerAmp Reference (not until R13) right away if you would just do one thing for me:

Provide a single unified installer and GUI for all of the included codecs, plugins, applications of dbPowerAmp Reference. I hate installing your software and I hate how there are so many entries in the add/remove applet. Unification of the multiple applications and codecs is disparately needed with this product.

I agree 100%

There are some codec/dsp packs, but even still I completely agree. I think it is counter-intuitive for a 'swiss army knife' product to not come with everything.

Maybe a compromise betwee "include everything" and the current "only get what you need" is a "downloader" included with Reference, where you specify what you want and it downloads it all. Then, in Add/Remove programs you just have "dBpoweramp" and when you click remove, you specify what you want to remove.

Yeah,that is an OK compromise for the installer itself and that is a start but I would still also like for it to have an overarching GUI that integrated all the disparate functions.

For example:

How do you tag using AMG without re-ripping the CD?

I feel that dbPowerAmp buries too much functionality in shell extension handlers, so much so, that it often makes my explorer crash.

My understanding of spoon's architectural approach to the shell extension handlers for R13 (and maybe even R12) was to decouple the shell extension handler from the code in the tag analyzer(s) so that explorer.exe crashes were much less likely to come from the tag analyzer(s) choking on corrupted tags...

markfaine: you can't use dMC to tag with AMG/freedb/etc. unless you're ripping a CD.

Yes dBpoweramp will never crash explorer.exe, if there is a crash it will say getpopupinfo.exe (if it is a dbpoweramp component that is crashing).
