DVD-A ripping facility please!!!

Why do DVD audios sound terrible when ripped into 96kHz-24bit wave samples? Is there something missing in the dMC, or is it something that just cannot be done?

FYI - The DVD I tried ripping was NOT 5.1 DTS encoded.

IIRC, DVD-A discs, like DVD movie discs, use encryption to protect the content. In some countries, like the U.S.A., the media lobby pushed the government to put laws in place (to bypass fair use), such as the DMCA, that make it illegal to break the encryption in order to copy.

One may think the law is a bad idea (I do), but one should also recognize that a business (such as spoon's) should do its best to avoid becoming tied up in legal entanglements, esp. against very large adversaries.

Agreed. The little guy can't even come close to defending against the big giants out there lobbying for their greedy incomes.

I wasn't sure if the laws in the USA had been set to bypass fair use as of yet. Haven't been following all that as close this last year. Other things taking up my concentration and time.
