Better, clearer, more consistent installation/update handling

Currently, the installation packages give the choice to install over existing, un-install existing first, or cancelling the installation.

The main problem is that there is no information provided by the installer as to which is the most appropriate selection.

In fact there has been conflicting information whether/when to un-install existing or install over.

This all is entirely too complicated.

The software should automatically know the appropriate choice and convey that in no uncertain terms to the user (allowing the the user to override).

This is in regards to the following scenarios (No doubt there are more than this):

    - Installing R12 with an existing R11/sveta/etc installation (without breaking anything)
    - installing/updating r12 codecs (to include beta versions)
    - installing/updating r12 dsp plugins (to include beta versions)
    - updating r12 to any current or future beta/release versions

Furthermore, any updater should be smart enough to see the feature level of the existing installation (free/powerpack/reference) and update the applicable parts without affecting any of the enhanced feature which may or may not be part of the update.

How Do I Update my Registered Version to the Latest Version?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For dMC, you simply install the latest trial over top of your existing install and make sure to NOT uinstall the old version.

    Important note!
If you are upgrading from dMC r11.5 or earlier to dMC r12, you must uninstall all of your current codecs for dMC and then install dMC r12 over top of dMC r11.5. Then download the new versions of your codecs from Codec Central.

The incompatibility of r12 and other Illustrate products will be remedied in the near future.

Also, once the DSP effects are released, they probably won't be updated in any major way, except for bug fixes, for a while.

An option to update to the latest beta of dMC or codecs would be a good idea. However, I do think the user should be redirected to the thread on the forum where the list of things that work and don't work are listed.
