    Requests for dMC

-Instead of being limited to choosing the files first and then selecting to convert them it would be nice to have a library interface to select songs to convert and maybe even the option to maintain/manage 2 libraries (ie FLAC and MP3)

-Option to add album art to file tags when converting from folder.jpg file

    -Updated Lame encoder

Im looking forward to the new ripper and hope dbpoweramp can begin to meet my needs.

    1. I'm not entirely sure what your asking here. If you mean have directories like /FLAC/artist/etc. and /mp3/artist/etc., I believe it is planned for dMC r12 to support this also.
    2. Planned for dMC r12.
    3. dMC r12 (currently in alpha) is using Lame 3.97b2 currently, hopefully by the time it reaches the final version LAME will also release their final version.

For more about dMC r12, including the current feature set currently implemented and the plans for it, see the link below in my signature.

Currently when converting music you have to use explorer to go to the music and right click or you can click on dMC get an explorer win select the music.

This is not very convenient when trying to convert thousands of songs in artist/album directories.

Instead, I would like a library view with all of my songs listed (and the ability to keep libraries displayed separately depending on format or directory). That way I can go in, select all my FLAC files convert them to MP3, preserving tags and adding album art from the folder.jpg file in my flac directories. You should also be able to preserve directory structure (ie FLAC/artist/album -> MP3/artist/album).

***Also, when transcoding from a lossless file poweramp should have a visual display that confirms the integrity of the file by having a column that with a green check (or red x) and date that confirms the hash matches the stored hash

Ultimately Im looking forward to full dbpoweramp line integration and management through a library interface - select songs to rip, transcode, send to DAP, play, ect...

Another question: when AMG meta-data support is added with there be a backup metadata resource? AMG has great data, but often they are missing data on independent releases or small labels. Will the agreement with AMG allow for a backup resource?

Aha. You want to convert directories of songs. Use File Selector to do this. You specify the file types you want converted and where you want them. Unfortunately, right now if you want to keep the files in their individual folders, you must keep the entire path and alter it after convert. I believe dMC r12 will change this also.
i.e. If the path is C:\Flac\artist\album you can move the output tree, but you will end up with C:\mp3\FLAC\artist\album and so on.

I don't believe that dMC supports hashes in lossless files. I assume you are referring to the hashes that FLAC stores.

I'm pretty sure that freedb/freedb2 will be available as a backup source, but Spoon has the final word on this.

Seems like it should be an easy feature to fix in terms of directory output. Ideally in the long term it could actually keep track of 2 libraries and mark FLAC files that have not been transcoded.

Yes, this is what I am refering to. While it may not currently support them there are plenty of libraries making implementation easy. So adding it would be a very nice feature.

I hope you are right that there will be a backup metadata source. I would actually really like to have musicbrainz as a second lookup, followed by freedb. MB data tends to be better, but does not include as many entries as freeDB.

Another request (sorry if its there): transcode normalization based on replaygain. I like to transcode with replaygain, I know this changes the data, but I have a FLAC library and its nice to have this for DAPs.

Support for Replaygain will also be in dMC r12. Sensing a pattern here? :D

yup, clearly I could be very happy with 12. Hope decent progress is being made.

as it stands, if there is an error decoding the lossless file then the error is shown at the end of conversion (no need for hashes as lossless file formats have internal CRCs). There will be an option in R12 to skip the errors and continue to decode.

yes we use freedb as backup

I thought CRC was a hash? Also, I thought FLAC used md5? Anyway I know alot of apps check and give feedback if there is a problem, but as a paranoid lossless user it would be nice to get positive feedback that everything is ok, instead of assuming that as long as I dong get an error everything must be ok.

dMC r12 supports lyrics in tags, I assume it would also be able to download them.

Spoon would have the final word on this, but I guess they would be downloaded along with album info when ripping a CD.
