Honestly, this truly is bad style! I've found that post from 2004 upon admin rights requirements and write access to the application install dir. And you still insist on doing so... I'm more than anoyed by this behaviour >-O There are well known practices to avoid write access to application sites while still maintaining users state...

If I remember correctly, dMC r12 will not require write access to the installation directory. Remember that dMC is now on version 11.5 and when it originally came out, in the late 90s, the dominant operating systems were based on Windows 9x. Now most users are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP which are totally different. Changing this behavior is a rather large re-write.
