I use the .aac/.m4a codec with dmc for many of my music files...particularly the ones I create as .wav from vinyl records.
It turns out, these files won't stream with iTunes DAAP music sharing, due to something obscure about a metadata atom. This thread:
Can the codec be modified to place the data atom at the beginning of the resulting .m4a files so that iTunes sharing might work with these files?
