Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

In addition, I believe using a firewire- or SATA-connected optical drive would prevent the PIO fallback. USB as well, but most USB bridge chipsets don't handle errors too well.

Windoz allows the BIOS to select the mode, which is UltraDMA-2 (33). The first two ripping stages are fast, as is "re-ripping". It is the Secure stages that slow down. I have another computer that I will install Beta 1 on and see if I have the same problem.

I'm installing Beta 2 now and will try and rip the same CDs.

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

"Vary drive speed each pass" is what kills it. CDGrab just dies, and I have to kill it. Killing the main application doesn't do it.

When I clear that setting, everything runs smooth.

I've got an nForce 4SLI board, with nvata.sys.

I wouldnt use that option then. For most drives that option is valid, perhaps it does not overly help on some drives, on others it does.

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

Installed beta 2 since I am now running vista. A couple of questions arise:

Is the delete original after conversion option gone?

Is there a way to run a program after conversion (previously part of power pack)?

I don't seem to be getting file info in pop up in explorer despite having selected that option in configuration program?

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

The delete source is now a DSP effect, see the zip of dsps you can install.

Run after conversion will be shortly, again another DSP effect.

For popup, make sure the configuration program has administrator access rights (it needs them to install the shell stuff).

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

Will R12 have the ability to create a cuesheet such that I could take my extracted songs (FLAC) and exactly recreate a CD?

                  Great work so far!

Will do shortly after R12 release (we really have to release in the next number of weeks)

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

I have now been using the R12 beta for a number of weeks and have used beta 2 to convert my complete WMA lossless library to FLAC. I have not experienced any problems. So I feel its time to release and buy!

This is a really great product and many thanks for the many improvements over R11.5

Will the recently released new version of FLAC (1.1.3b) be made available soon?

Re: Discussion of dMC R12 Alpha

A request for the R12 m4a codec would be to make tags fast start compatible (i.e. tag at the front ofthe file) so they can be streamed to iTunes. At the moment dbpoweramp m4a codec doesn't so the files have to be processed through mp4creator -optimize after encoding. All-in-one would be more convenient and compatible.

This issue is discussed a bit here:

I would like to see this also.

Plus I'm wondering if the WavPack plugin is version 4.40? Thanks Spoon!

                                Hi Folks

Just trying out the R12 beta. Very nice it is too !
Any idea when the multi-encoder will appear ? Would be nice if this was done as a "multi profile" encode.

Good work.... a market leader is on its way..
